Switch to Spey
Midwest Spey is dedicated to teaching anglers of all abilities the spey method of casting and fishing. Our staff are professional anglers with many years experience in the fly fishing industry as instructors, guides, fishing travel hosts and presenters. Though we are expert fishermen with wide variety of equipment and techniques, our driving passion is spey casting and fishing for steelhead on the swung fly. We want to share that passion with you.
Our services provide a natural progression to mastering all facets of spey fishing and casting. For anglers beginning their journey, we recommend starting with introductory group classes in casting and fishing then progressing to private lessons to further refine and learn new techniques. Guided spey instruction and fishing travel, with an emphasis on teaching and learning, complete the transfer of skills from practice to the water. Experienced spey casters will also benefit from our extensive knowledge of spey casting styles, modern rods and lines and fishing techniques. Let us help you dial in your gear, diagnosis a stubborn casting fault, or explore new water beyond the Great Lakes.
At Midwest Spey our goal is to provide the highest quality learning experience, but don’t take our word for it. Read what our clients have to say about their experiences in the Testimonials sidebar.
I really can’t say enough about how well the class was conducted and taught. Whether you are new to Spey, looking to fine tune some casts or looking to add some new casts to your arsenal I would highly recommend you contact Will Turek. You will not be disappointed if you do.
Thanks for the great day on the Grand. I improved my casting quite a bit and learned some good info on reading the water.
Just touching base since our day on the Grand a couple of Saturdays ago… Thanks again for the lessons as it is always a pleasure to be around folks that have a passion for a particular discipline and are willing to share their knowledge.
It was pleasure meeting and fishing with you on Sunday!!! You really know your stuff!! I’ll probably take the leap into spey fishing this summer. I believe with practice I can make it work.
After a 1/2 day spey lesson with Will, I gained two things: a solid foundation for building the skills necessary for efficient and safe casting, and a deep respect for Will’s ability as an instructor. He is a master of both the art of spey casting and communicating his knowledge to students. My lesson is one of the best investments of time and money I have made in flyfishing.
I have already talked to Mad River about what a great teacher you are and how much I enjoyed our time together… I really want to fish with you again. I wrote down all of my thoughts and techniques that you taught me. I can’t wait to get my Skagit shooting line, running line, Drews Speed loops, T-8 sinking lines and get started. Again, thanks for the great day of learning. You are a fantastic teacher.
